What is an APN?

Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) is an enterprise-grade wireless communication standard built for Internet of Things (IoT) and developed to enable a wide range of IoT devices and services to connect to the internet. NB-IoT is unique to other wireless connections such as LTE-M, 4G and 5G in that it provides a longer communication range with deep penetration, allowing devices that are underground or in remote locations to connect. NB-IoT technology allows devices to have up to 10 years of battery life and connect a wide range of assets anywhere.

NB-IoT has specifications developed and standardised by 3GPP and is classed as an "industrial grade" LPWA solution which runs on licensed spectrum, guaranteeing you quality of service and future proofing. NB-IoT incorporates the same security as LTE, and, with iONLINE's connected network solution, your NB-IoT connections will have additional security layered on top of the 3GPP standards.
